A recent glance at the newspaper from the city to the south enlightened me on the current state of birth statistics in the area. In a two week period at one particular hospital, there were 37 babies born. 20 of them were born to single or unmarried parents, and 17 to married couples.
gah.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Veronica. What do you do about it though? I have so many other thoughts running through my head right now, about the world and about things closer to home. Its a puzzle.
ReplyDeleteMany, if not most, of the kids I work with in Title 1 come from challenging family situations. I guess it's job security for me, but I would rather be unemployed if it meant that children could have a mom AND a dad who read to them and tuck them in at night.
